Weight over Waste: Why I’m Choosing Slow Fashion in 2026

There is a different kind of disappointment that comes with a favourite t-shirt losing its shape or design fading. We’ve all been there, the neckline loses its shape after three washes or the fabric becomes so thin it feels disposable.

When I started Indie Ink, I always wanted to create wearable art that was made to last and made to be a wardrobe staple for years.

As I spend this time researching and creating the new collection, I’m learning more and more the importance of slow fashion. To me slow fashion means organic, heavyweight cotton that feels sustainable from the moment you put it on. It’s about the quality of the stitching in the neckline and the hand pulled screen full of water based ink.

By choosing to hand print every t-shirt in my studio in Hull, I’m opting out of the fast fashion movement. I’m choosing a pace that respects the maker, the customer, and the planet. These are clothes that are built to be wardrobe staples for years, not just a season.

Thank you for choosing to walk this slower path with me. If you want to be the first to see the new designs, join the Indie Ink Club here.

Thank you for all of your support so far.

All the best,

Amy at Indie Ink
